IAEVG COVID update
The IAEVG Riga conference has been postponed to April 27-29 2021. All existing registrations will be honoured.
The Riga conference will be a live face-to-face event, insofar as national, European and international health and safety regulations allow. Participants are responsible for following the health, safety and travel guidelines which apply to their personal and national circumstances, as well as the sanitary and security measures instated at the conference venue.
The call for conference contributions is now re-opened with the deadline of 15 October 2020 in order to allow additional participants to submit proposals. An additional theme of career support in the face of disruption has been added. Papers on other topics are also welcome.
As of 9 June 2020 the state of emergency in Latvia has been lifted, and travel restrictions are gradually being relaxed, however, new public health measures have been passed in order to reduce the chance of a repeated outbreak.
The organizers reserve the right to maintain a contingency plan for an abridged online conference in the event of a renewed state of emergency. Online in this context means a webinar only of pre-recorded keynotes. In the event of an online event, all other conference programme elements will be cancelled.
The final decision on the form of the conference – live as re-scheduled or online – will be made two months before the event, on February 26, 2021, based on the national and international regulations in force at the time. Should force majeure circumstances intervene after the cut-off date for the decision, the conference may either proceed online or be cancelled. However, in any case, the conference proceedings will be published electronically and provided to all the participants who paid their fees.
IAEVG 2020 Riga international conference under discussion
Due to concerns around Covid 19 related travel bans world wide, the Conference organizers are currently seeking a viable alternative, in communication with the IAEVG board. This means that the conference will not take place on site in Riga on 20-22 October, and possible options include an online event, or an onsite event at a later date. The decision will be made after May 12, 2020.
Extension of the Early bird rate and Call for Papers deadline
In order to address concerns over the impact of the coronavirus to the organisation of public events and ban on international travel, conference organizers are extending the Early bird registration rate and the deadline for the Call for Papers of the IAEVG International conference in Riga until 30 April 2020.
Conference organisers are following the overall situation and guidelines issued by the World Health Organisation, and in particular the decisons of the Latvian government regarding orgnisation of public events. Should any changes to the conference plan be required, information about this will be made available on the conference website.
